okay, let's try this out

After some investigation into the world of blogs, I'm starting my own. Not because I think I have anything all that profound to say, but because I'm leaving on an eight month journey to Australia and New Zealand. I figured that this would be a better way for my friends and family to keep track of me as I travel, rather than doing the mass email thing. Being inherently lazy, this seems like less work for me. But, most importantly, it means that I won't be inflicting the information on those who don't want it, but who would be too polite to say so if I offered to add them to my mailing list. I still intend to keep in touch with you all via email on an individual basis.

I think it will prove to be an interesting challenge to keep in mind the wide variety of people who may choose to read my blog - Which means -> note to self: don't forget that your parents might be reading this!
